Dream Journal 5/18/18 | Internet Troll

I was browsing around on Facebook, and left a comment on a comic that I came across. Something totally harmless like, “Oh, I love this!”. About 30 seconds later, I got a notification that someone had replied to my comment, and when I opened it, I found an entire paragraph beneath my comment, from some guy that I didn’t know. It was a whole mess of gibberish and nonsense. I responded to his comment, asking what he was talking about, and immediately received a notification from Facebook, telling me that my reply had been deleted because it was harassing someone. I was confused.

I went back to the comment section, and saw that the same guy had posted several more comments, each more ridiculous than the last. He was calling me names, throwing out weird, nonsensical conspiracy theories, and somehow knew very personal information about me, that he couldn’t possibly have known. I started freaking out and eeporting all of his comments for harassment, all the while replying to him and asking him to please stop. Each time I posted a reply, it would disappear, and I would instantly get a notification from Facebook telling me that MY comments were being deleted for harassment. Meanwhile, his comments were all still there, and he was posting a new comment every minute.

More and more people started responding to the comments in the thread, telling the guy that he was crazy, telling him he needed to stop, and telling me that they were reporting him, but all of their comments began disappearing as well. The crazy guy who was harassing me just kept posting more more, and somehow knew that we were all being reported, and was laughing at us.

I finally blocked the guy, but his comments still kept coming. I found a 1-800 number for the Facebook headquarters, and tried to call them to report it, but nobody ever answered the phones. I’m logged off of Facebook, but the notifications from his comments kept blowing up my phone, and I started to have a panic attack.

After a few moments, I sat back down at my computer, and looked at everything he was saying. Most of his comments didn’t make any sense, like he had just started stringing random words together, not even trying to form real sentences. Some of the comments were just a mess of numbers, letters, and symbols, like he had just pounded his fists on the keyboard. It was weird.

For some reason, I decided to post a random meme in the comment section, and the guy suddenly stopped responding. He then replied to the meme that I had posted, suddenly acting like a totally different person, now praising my taste in comics and memes, and telling me that I was pretty, and seemed like a nice person, etc. For some reason, I kept responding to him, and trying to tell him that he had been being vile and hateful, and that it was unacceptable. He kept ignoring me though, and began attempting to act flirty with me.

The last thing that I remember before I woke up, was another woman replying to the man, claiming that he had done all of these same things to her, and that she had called the police on him, but he kept ignoring her, too.

And then, I woke up.
