I’m officially down 7.5 pounds. That means I’m only 12.5 pounds away from my first weight loss goal. I’ve been trying to avoid the scale, because checking it regularly is a dangerous habit that I am all too familiar with. However, since it’s been over a week since I started working out, and about a week since I last weighed in, I figured there was no harm in it.
7.5 pounds. I’ve lost 7.5 pounds. And, might I add, that I weighed myself after I had just eaten lunch. So, that added a teeny, tiny bit, right?
I feel good today. A lot better than yesterday, at least. This morning, we blew up kiddo’s new pool, and had a family pool day in the front yard, until we were all shivering, and had at least a dozen bug bites. That put me in a good mood.
I didn’t make it to the gym until 8:00 tonight, because I had a lot of things I had to catch up on with work, and around the house, and Kyle worked overnight last night, so he was sleeping for most of the day anyway. The skies were clear, and it was a gorgeous 62 degrees and breezy when I left the house.
It felt amazing.
There were quite a few people in the gym tonight, which always makes me a little uneasy, but I am getting better at blocking out my surroundings, and focusing on what I’m working on. It also helps that I completely revamped my Spotify gym playlist. It helps a lot, actually. People make me nervous. Music calms me down.
I started with 15 minutes on the treadmill, at 3.0 mph, and a slight incline. Hawaii 5.0 was on, so between that and my music, the treadmill was a breeze.
Then, a full 60 seconds on Jacob’s Ladder, which kicks my ass every damn time!
After that, I moved onto the row machine, where I only did 5 minutes, because there were some other things I wanted to try out, and I didn’t feel like spending my usual 20 minutes doing that.
Then, I did a set of 10 standing side bends with a kettlebell, followed by 3 sets of supersets with the 5-pound weights. The supersets are getting easier each time I do them, and that makes me happy.
Did another set of standing side bends, minus the kettlebell, with my arms extended up. Those hurt a bit.
And finally, 5 minutes on the elliptical. I could have pushed for more, but honestly, I am starting to hate the elliptical. It used to be the one thing I did every time I went in, mostly because it was all I knew, but now, I can’t stand to be on it for more than 5 minutes. Sometimes 10. It’s okay, I really only wanted to do a little bit at the end to round out my workout.
My walk home was nice. The temperature dipped to around 58 degrees, and the breeze felt amazing. I was a few steps from my house when Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia came on my Spotify, so I decided to do a lap around my block and enjoy the air.
My obliques hurt, but I feel good.
