Dream Journal 8/7/18 | Sister-In-Law’s Book

I was sitting in a large lecture hall, filled with people. I was sitting in the front, along with my husband, his younger sister, her husband, my mother-in-law, and my husband’s oldest sister’s husband. Kyle’s oldest sister was standing at the front of the room, and was talking to us about a book that she had written. She told us that she wanted to do a reading, out loud, and had assigned each one us pages to read.

She told us to turn to page 200-something, but when I tried to find the page, I discovered that the pages were completely out of order, and the pages were all different sizes, and different shapes. As I struggled to find the right page, she told the group that I was the one who would be starting the reading. I leaned over to her husband, who was sitting next to me, and asked him if his book was completely out of order as well. His book was normal, and he moved it toward me so that I could read the page, but my sister-in-law yelled, “No sharing books!” from the front of the room.

I ignored her, and started to read out loud. She walked over to us, took away the book, and pushed mine back in front of me, telling me that I had to read my own parts. She flipped the book open to the correct page, and walked away laughing. I looked down, only to discover that not only were the pages out of order in my book, but there were huge, blank spaces on the pages. I started reading again, but there were words, sentences, and even entire paragraphs that were missing from my book, and I could head people around me giggling and whispering.

I grabbed my brother-in-law’s book again, and continued reading, all while my sister-in-law threw a very animated tantrum at the front of the room. My mother-in-law told her to stop acting like a child, and people started getting up to leave. She blocked the door, and said that my book was special, and that I was supposed to fill in the story as I read, to see how much I knew about classic literature. I told her that didn’t make any sense, and the crowd of people pushed by her, and left.

She then accused her husband and I of flirting, and we all started arguing with her, and telling her that she was acting insane. She started tearing the pages out of the stack of books on the table near us, and screaming at us…

And then, I woke up.
