Fifty Shades of Jan Q&A

Hello, friends! I am finally caught up on all of my editing for now, and I’m waiting for my hair to dry before I head to the gym to do the mural wall for November. I still have no idea what I’m going to make. Maybe something turkey themed? I guess we’ll see. I might also go walk around town for a while, because Pokemon GO has a new feature that tracks your mileage walked even when the game is closed, so now my battery won’t die within 20 minutes! Woot!

Anyway, while my hair is drying, I figured I would do something a little random, since this popped up in my Facebook memories this morning. Everyone loves a good Q&A, right? We all know I love talking about myself. So, here’s 50 questions and answers!

44455922_10212805393549155_3013753619318046720_o1) Where was your profile picture taken?
My Facebook profile picture (added to the left) was actually taken at Matthiessen State Park in Illinois. It’s a really beautiful area. We were doing family pictures with the in-laws, and even though they nagged us to come out and join them, we got there 30 minutes earlier than they did, and decided to take some pictures of our own, since I was all gussied up and standing by a tree. The pictures I took myself came out better than most of the pictures they took of us, so it all worked out.

2) What is your relationship status?
I call Kyle my husband, but we aren’t actually married. We’ve been together since 2013, and got engaged in 2014, but we aren’t in a hurry to actually get married.

3) Have you ever lost a close friend?
Haven’t we all? I’ve lost friends who have moved away. I’ve lost friends who have passed away. I’ve lost friends who have decided that they didn’t want me to be in their lives anymore. I’ve lost.

4) What is your current mood?
A little stressed, a little hungry, and pretty darn tired. I didn’t sleep well last night, and kiddo woke up at 5:00 this morning and climbed into my bed, with his pillow and all of his stuffed animals, wanting to play games on my phone. I’ve got coffee, and a lot of stuff to do today.

5) Do you have any siblings?
Boy, do I ever. A half-brother, a step-brother, two step-sisters, a half-brother, and two half-sisters. I’m my mom’s only child though. I might have other siblings out there. Who knows?

6) Where would you rather be right now?
Sleeping. But I have murals to do, and novels to edit, and social media accounts to manage… and this thing.

7) Do you have a crazy side?
You’d think so, but not really. I’m a pretty chill, boring person.

8) Have you ever had a near death experience?
A few car accidents, a few near drownings, a few other things.

9) Who was your last text from?
From the sub shop reward program up the street! I’ll probably be going up there for lunch today, hehe.

10) Are you currently angry at anyone?
I mean… yeah. No one in my personal life though.

11) Do you find it difficult to forgive people?
No, if anything, I forgive far too easily. But I’m not naive. I know that people suck.

12) When was the last time you cried, and why?
Last night actually. I had an upsetting dream, and woke up around 2:30 crying.

13) What do you think about when you are falling asleep?
Oh, you mean everything? That.

14) What were you doing yesterday at 10:00 am?
Editing this novel for work.

15) Do you have a favorite hair color?
I have a soft spot for gingers. Always have. I am also pretty fond of really light ash brown balayage, too.

16) Do you have a favorite eye color?
Blue.

17) Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
One of Liam’s teachers yesterday, because they needed to reschedule our appointment for parent teacher conferences.

18) What is your favorite song?
Just about anything by Avenged Sevenfold. Or Ed Sheeran. I think one of my current favorites (which has been a favorite for over 10 years) is So Far Away by Avenged Sevenfold.

19) What are you doing right now?
I mean… doing this, obviously. I’m also drinking this now cold cup of coffee, and watching Good Mythical Morning.

20) Do you find it hard to trust people?
These days? Yep.

21) Where did you get the shirt you are wearing?
It’s actually from my grandfather! He’s a badass biker dude in Oklahoma, and every year, he and his buddies go riding and do a big fundraiser to raise money for kids with cancer. He’s sent me a shirt the last two years, and I am wearing last year’s shirt. I don’t feel like taking a picture, but here’s the pictures I took the day I got it. Funny enough, my hair is also wet in these pictures. The shirt is too big for me now!

22) What’s your favorite music genre?
I like a little bit of everything! I would say 90s rock is pretty cool. I also still listen to most of the same rock and emo stuff I listened to in high school.

23) What was the last movie you watched?
Um… I actually can’t remember. Ant-Man and the Wasp? Maybe?

24) What is your favorite movie genre?
I’m really into outbreak movies. Zombie outbreaks, deadly viruses, etc. I also really like sci-fi and horror. And psychological thrillers.

25) Do you have good handwriting?
It’s pretty decent, yeah.

26) Are you currently procrastinating?
Very much so… but I am waiting for my hair to dry.

27) What are you currently listening to?
Rhett and Link!

28) When you receive bad news, who do you run to first?
No one really. I vent on Twitter a lot, but I know people get pretty sick of that, so I tend to bottle things up.

29) What was your last argument about?
Probably Kyle not doing the dishes or something.

30) Did you fit into any stereotypes in high school?
Not really. I was friendly with most people, and kind of fit in with everyone, even if not 100%. I was a mix of a lot of things. Band kid, smart kid, loner kid, emo kid. I was weird.

31) What is your eye color?
Dark blue.

32) Who was the last person to make you laugh?
Rhett and Link.

33) Do you want to have children someday?
I already have the coolest kiddo, who constantly keeps me on my toes. I always thought I wanted at least one more, but I don’t know anymore. Maybe.

34) Are you currently binge-watching anything?
Good Mythical Morning! I hadn’t tuned in for about two years, and so I have a lot of catching up to do!

35) Is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight?
Mostly straight, and very fine. Dry as hay.

36) What is your least favorite chore to do?
Folding laundry. I haven’t done it in weeks. It’s all just spilling over the top of three different laundry baskets. Not sorry.

37) If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A Chipotle chicken bowl, with everything in it. Mmm.

38) Have you ever been in love?
Obviously.

39) What does the 5th text in your inbox say?
A message from Facebook giving me a code to get back into my account.

40) Are you happy with your life right now?
Could be better, could be worse.

41) What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Coffee and a bagel.

42) What was your favorite childhood toy?
Hmm… I really liked playing with Polly Pockets. Not the super small ones, but the ones that were like 3 inches tall. I had a ton of them, and some playsets, cars, accessories, etc. I played with those things for years!

43) What high school did you go to?
Biddeford High School. Go Tigers!

44) What do you miss the most about elementary school?
The playground.

45) Can you draw?
I mean, I can… but not well. My dad used to be an amazing artist. I never got those genes. I can make a pretty passable stick figure though.

46) Can you play any instruments?
I used to dabble in piano, and I played clarinet for 7 years. I don’t think I could do either these days though.

47) Do you enjoy DIY projects?
I love them, I’m just too poor to do any.

48) What are you most looking forward to today?
It’s only 9:30 and I already want lunch.

49) Who is your best friend?
I don’t have one.

50) What are the lyrics to the last song you heard?
Linkin Park – Bleed It Out

Yeah, here we go for the hundredth time
Hand grenade pins in every line
Throw ’em up and let something shine
Going out of my fucking mind
Filthy mouth, no excuse
Find a new place to hang this noose
String me up from atop these roofs
Knot it tight so I won’t get loose
Truth is you can stop and stare
Bled myself out and no one cares
Dug a trench out, laid down there
With a shovel up out of reach somewhere
Yeah, someone pour it in
Make it a dirt dance floor again
Say your prayers and stomp it out
When they bring that chorus in
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Go, stop the show
Choppy words in a sloppy flow
Shotgun opera, lock and load
Cock it back and then watch it go
Mama, help me, I’ve been cursed
Death is rolling in every verse
Candy paint on his brand new hearse
Can’t contain him;
He knows he works
Fuck this hurts, I won’t lie
Doesn’t matter how hard I try
Half the words don’t mean a thing
And I know that I won’t be satisfied
So, why try ignoring him?
Make it a dirty dance floor again
Say your prayers and stomp it out
When they bring that chorus in
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
I bleed it out
I’ve opened up these scars
I’ll make you face this
I’ve pulled myself so far
I’ll make you face this now
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out
Digging deeper just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
Just to throw it away
I bleed it out
I bleed it out
I bleed it out
Thanks for reading! Enjoy your Thursday, friends.
