Dream Journal 1/13/19 | Mini Ladd

It was the middle of the day. Liam was at school, Kyle was sleeping, and all of my neighbors had convened in the small, one-bedroom apartment above mine. It sounded like they were having some sort of party, and even though the noise was loud, it was the middle of the day, and I didn’t want to go up and be THAT neighbor.

I was sitting on the floor with my laptop, playing The Sims, when I heard shouting coming from the hallway outside my door. I opened the door, and I saw Craig Thompson (aka Mini Ladd from YouTube) standing in my neighbor’s apartment across the hall, blocking their entrance back in. He was telling them that he was squatting there now, since they weren’t using it, and that they couldn’t tell him to leave, because it was his apartment now. They were all yelling and screaming, and one of the other guys was threatening to kick his ass, and he just stood there, cool as a cucumber.

I went back in my apartment to call the police, but the noise in the hall suddenly died down, and when I went back out there, everyone had cleared out. I knocked on the door across the hall, and Craig answered, and greeted me by name, as if we had met before. He invited me inside, and showed me his new apartment, which was fully furnished, as if he had been there longer than 5 minutes. He was cooking something, and offered some to me, and I told him no, and started asking him questions about why he was there. He said something about missing the snow, and how LA didn’t have snow, so he moved into this shitty, ghetto apartment in the middle of nowhere. He kept calling me by my name, and I asked him how he knew me, and he just looked at me weird, but never gave me an actual answer.

Kyle woke up and came across the hall to look for me, and when he saw Craig, he looked at me, totally dumbfounded. Craig just greeted him, using his name now, and invited us both to eat with him. I told him our son would be getting home soon, and we had to go, and he saw us out.

Back in our apartment, I told Kyle what Craig had said, and as we were talking, I could hear him next door yelling and being goofy, like he is when he records his YouTube videos. The other neighbors had all returned, and had gone back upstairs, and the noise from both apartments combined was practically deafening. I called our property manager to complain, and suddenly, a fleet of squad cars and other emergency vehicles pulled up in front of our apartment. I heard the building’s front door get knocked in, followed by the sound of an army storming the halls, and going into the other apartments. Kyle and I ran into our bedroom, and locked the door, hiding behind our bed, until the noise and chaos stopped.

When we went back out into the hall, we found that the other apartments were gone. Completely gone. The building was gone, leaving just our apartment standing there. We just shut our door, and went back inside, as if nothing had happened, and Kyle started playing NBA 2K19 while I waited for Liam to get off the bus.

I remember the bus pulling up, and a bunch of kids getting off…

And then, I woke up.
