I was in a conference room with a bunch of people that I had gone to high school with, over nine years ago. There was a woman explaining to us that we were going to be part of a special task force (her words), and would be going back to our old high school, disguised as high school students, to assess the rules and procedures for various things. We weren’t going to get paid, but the woman promised us pizza.
I was in a large library, that looked nothing like the library from my old high school, but that’s where I was. I recognised the librarians as the same women from when I was in school, and tried to hide from them, so they wouldn’t see me. I was in the back of the library, where there were small cubicles with computers, just ducking behind the bookshelves, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Alex*, a guy that I had dated in high school. He was happy to see me, and was asking me what I thought about what we were doing, when another guy turned the corner and joined us. His name was Sam*, Alex’s best friend, and I had also dated him when we were younger.
An announcement came over the school’s intercom, announcing that there would be an anti-bullying lecture in the gym. We all laughed, because we knew that the school’s administrators must have gotten wind about why we were there, and were trying to up their scores. We stayed in the library, just catching up about life, and playing various computer games on the computers in the back of the library.
After a while. I left to go get something to eat from the cafeteria. When I walked in, there was a mob of kids beating the crap out of each other in the middle of the room. I took my phone out and started taking pictures. Alex and Sam were suddenly behind me, also taking pictures. A teacher was standing by us, not doing anything, but as soon as she saw our phones out, she ran to break up the fight. We all left, and went up this grand staircase, where there was a whole floor of small shops and food huts. The guys went somewhere else, and I got into a long line outside of a bookstore, where there was a man signing copies of his book, which I had never heard of. There were security guards everywhere.
I left the line and found Alex, and we had a heart to heart, and just talked through all the crap that had happened between us back in high school. I ended up crying. It was kind of intense.
The last thing I remember is going back to the library, and one of the librarians spotted me, and I was trying to sneak and get away from her…
And then I woke up.
