Dream Journal 1/9/17 | Fast Food

Kyle and I walked into a large, fancy fast food restaurant. It was a mashup of McDonald’s, Burger King, and Arby’s. Rather, the menus were a mashup. A little bit of everything. We walked up the counter, where a teenage girl, about 16 years old, took our order. She informed us that she was brand new, and that no one had properly trained her, and kept apologizing as she stumbled her way through taking our order. Kyle and I were very patient and friendly, and tried to help her as best we could. It took several minutes, but our order was finally correctly placed, and we went to sit down at a table to wait.

I ordered a two breakfast burrito meal and a large iced coffee (which is strange, because I can’t eat eggs, they make me sick), and Kyle ordered some chicken sandwich meal, where he also got a large order of potato cakes for free (my favorite thing from Arby’s).

At the table with us was one of our mothers, though I’m not sure which it was. I just remember that it was one of our moms. We sat at the table and just talked about random stuff, until we realized that about 15 minutes had passed, and our food wasn’t ready yet. I went up to the counter to ask about our order, and the girl told me that she had already brought us our food. I politely told her that she was mistaken, and she started yelling at me, telling me that she remembered doing it. I asked to speak to a manager, but the girl refused to get one, so I called back behind the counter for a manager.

A young man walked up, barely older than the girl, and I told him we had been waiting 15 minutes for our food, and that the girl had yelled at me. The guy told me he saw the girl bring us our food, and that we must have eaten it already. I started getting angry, and told him that none of us had gotten our food, and that this was insane. Suddenly, other people started coming up to the counter, saying they had been there for 5 minutes, 20 minutes, an hour, etc., and that none of them had gotten their food either.

The guy and the girl started screaming at everyone in the lobby, saying that they definitely brought us all our food, and that we were lying. Then, they stormed out from behind the counter and left. I jumped over the counter to the grill area, and saw a mountain of food piled up in the warming station. All of our food, and everyone else’s, was just sitting there. I grabbed all of the food, and started putting it on the counter, and people just started grabbing at it hungrily.

I grabbed our food, and walked back to the table, where there were now more people sitting with us, and we all sat down to eat, but my iced coffee was still missing, and I was annoyed.

And then I woke up.
