Gym Blog | Day 15

I’ve never known soreness like this ever before, you guys, and I birthed a tiny freaking human. I was fortunate enough to get a free session with my gym’s newest personal trainer yesterday, and it was awesome! I had met her a few times before, and she is suuuper nice, so I was pretty excited to learn some new stuff from her. I like the other trainer there, he’s really cool, too, but having another female teach me really put me at ease, and made me feel comfortable, even though I was in completely unfamiliar territory.

After a 5 minute warm up on the row machine, we started with squats. Of course. Fun fact: I had never done a squat in my life before yesterday. I did 4 sets of 10 with a 20 pound weight, and my legs were burrrrrning!

After squats, we did some arms, chest, and back stuff with the weights. I can’t remember what anything was called, though. I did some stuff standing up, I did some stuff with my knees and hands on a bench, I did some stuff on my back. All the things. All the upper body things. Different weighted weights. A million reps. A trillion sets. Much ouchies.

After I was drenched in sweat, we went and did some core stuff. We did what my trainer called “penguins“, which I actually really enjoyed. I was lying on my back, with my feet on the outside edge of the mat I was on, knees bend, and I lifted my head and neck a bit, as though I was going to do a sit up, but I had to hold it, and reach my arms out to touch my feet, from side to side. I did 2 sets of 10 of those.

Then, I did 2 sets of 10 leg raises, and holy shit, those were sooo hard to do.

And, finally… planks.

Yep. I did planks for the first time in my life.

TWO of them, actually. Held for 30 seconds. Like a boss.

It was awesome. She kept telling me that my form was perfect, and that made me feel really good, especially since most of this stuff was brand new to me. I’ve always been pretty good about picking things up quickly, because I’m a “nerd“, as some would say. And damn proud of it!

So, that was yesterday. This morning, I woke up, and every inch of my body hurt. Muscles that I wasn’t even aware of, just screaming at me every time I stood up, sat down, breathed… I am so sore. So fucking sore.

But I am super happy that I learned some new stuff, so that I can do more on my own when I go to the gym, as well as some stuff I can do from home when I can’t make it into the gym. That’s all I wanted! Yay!
